The original medal is in excellent condition. Silver, enamel, guilloche, stamping. The obverse is a flat silver circle with a four-pointed cross in the center, covered with translucent ruby-red enamel on a guilloched (carved) background. On the reverse side, there is a relief inscription "RUSSIAN-JAPANESE WAR" in a circle, and the dates "1904-1905" are horizontally stamped in the center.
It is a state award of the Russian Empire, established on January 19, 1906 by decree of Emperor Nicholas II. Medals of this type were minted exclusively by private craftsmen and firms (for example, the Eduard factory), so the details of the design of the cross and eyelet may vary slightly depending on the workshop. The main diameters were 24 mm and 28 mm. The award was worn on the chest on the Alexander Ribbon (red). The medal was awarded to persons of both sexes who took an active part in the work of the Russian Red Cross Society during the war with Japan:
Doctors, pharmacists, paramedics and nurses.
Orderlies, employees of hospitals, ambulance trains and infirmaries.
Individuals who have made large monetary or material donations to the needs of the wounded.
