Propaganda satirical postcard "He will remember this day. He will not forget this shadow", 1939.

A rare original Soviet propaganda postcard poster in excellent collector's condition. The publication was released in 1939 and is a conceptual part of the famous series of satirical postcards dedicated to the crushing defeat of the Japanese invaders in the Far East (the battles at Lake Hassan in 1938 and on the Khalkhin Gol River in 1939).

The obverse is a concise but visually powerful and metaphorical graphic composition created by renowned Soviet graphic artists Veniamin Briskin and Vasily Fomichev. The central element of the plot is a caricatured Japanese military man ("samurai") with his head bandaged with a white cloth, which in Soviet graphics symbolized a shameful defeat and deservedly received wounds. The character runs away in panic and horror from the green silhouette of the map of the Far East (the outlines of Primorye are clearly recognizable).

The upper-left corner shows a fragment of a boot and overcoat of a Soviet border guard (Red Army soldier) standing firmly on the state border line. The shadow of the monumental figure of the Soviet soldier covers the entire map, literally sweeping the interventionist from the territory of the USSR. In the lower part there is a succinct, striking poetic text by the poet Mikhail Kossovsky.:

"He will remember this day.
He won't forget that shadow."

The reverse side is clean, has not passed through the mail, without traces of household pollution, ink inscriptions, blots or postmarks. The design includes a standard "Where To" address grid. / To whom" and the "Place for the stamp" frame. The large heading "Postcard" is duplicated below in the international Esperanto language — "POŜTA KARTO". The name of the publishing house is placed in the upper left corner.: The state publishing house "Art".

In the lower part, under the dividing line, the full publishing and typographic data are written in small print: Art. V. Briskin and V. Fomichev, Poetry by M. Kossovsky, Ed. by N. Bolberg. Full. Glavlita No. A-12153, "Art" No. 6312, circulation 50,000 copies, order No. 47, lithograph of the publishing house "Art", Moscow, 1939, Dmitrovsky, 9, price 15 kopecks. The limited pre-war edition of 50,000 significantly increases the collector's rarity of this specimen.

The object has a high historical, cultural, museum and antique value. Such a harsh propaganda philocarty of the pre-war years is of great importance for understanding the era. Due to the fragility of the material and the tragic events of the subsequent Great Patriotic War, single copies have survived to the present day in an unused form. A wonderful exhibit in the collection of Soviet graphics, the history of the Red Army and pre-war satire.

Excellent collectible preservation for a paper artifact from the pre-war era. The postcard has no creases, tears, traces of wetting or restoration. The thick pre-war paper has retained its smooth texture and the natural light shade of the time (natural patina), pleasant to the eye. All the colors of the lithography on the front and the fonts on the back remained perfectly clear and contrasting.
