Dmitry Ivanovich Lugovskoy (November 17, 1918, Vitebsk — May 2, 1989) was an attack pilot of the USSR Air Force, Hero of the Soviet Union (13.4.1944). He was born in Vitebsk. He graduated from the Vitebsk Aero Club in 1938. In the Red Army since 1940. In 1941, he graduated from the Chkalov Pilot School. During the Great Patriotic War, from 1942, he served on the Caucasian, North Caucasian, and 2nd Baltic fronts. The commander of the attack aircraft squadron of the 502nd Assault Aviation Regiment, Captain D. I. Lugovskoy, made 130 sorties, destroyed 10 tanks, 26 artillery pieces and armored vehicles, 80 vehicles with troops and cargo, and much more, caused significant damage to enemy communications. In 1948, he graduated from the Higher Officer Flight Tactical Courses. He was a colonel in the Soviet Army until 1959. He lived in Minsk.
