Prismatic Russian binoculars by the firm of K. P. Hertz model BU 1904

Original and quite rare collectible binoculars in satisfactory condition, needs minor cleaning. The 8X magnification. Lens diameter 20 mm. Case monoculars of the binoculars is made of aluminum alloy, covered with natural black leather. Lenses and the eyepieces are threaded directly into the housing of the optic tubes and fixed with the retaining screws. The covers for the eyepieces is made of aluminum alloy (can be brass), are heart-shaped and are attached to the housings monoculars with screws. Fixing the position of the prisms inside the body of the monocular is carried out by pressing them to milled surfaces (bridges) of the housing casing covers using cardboard strips. Adjusting the binoculars provided by technological process of manufacturing of binoculars and a selection (adjustment) of the prisms and in the process of operation to adjustment is not subject. The eyecups on the binoculars are free to rotate around its axis due to the special design of the fastening. W./1904" (symbol of military prismatic binoculars 9х20 and ones 8x20 adopted in RIA and confirming compliance with the binoculars "exemplary" (approved by the GAU in the year) models of the binoculars from this manufacturer). In the end the German firm enters into a contract for the supply of these binoculars for the Russian army. Binoculars were supplied to Russia from 1905 to 1908, then was replaced by a similar model, made in Russia (in Riga) and the designation of B. W./1907.
