The medal "In Memory of the Reign of Emperor Nicholas I" is a medal of the Russian Empire for awarding persons who served during the reign of Nicholas I. The medal had two versions — silver and bronze. The medal was established on April 30, 1896 by decree of Emperor Nicholas II in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Nicholas I. The decree was announced by the Minister of War, P. S. Vannovsky. The silver medal was awarded to all officers and class ranks who were on active service during the reign of Nicholas I. The bronze medal was awarded to all the lower ranks in the service. On February 1, 1897, the right to award the medal was also granted to clergymen, artists of the Imperial theaters, and the servants of Nicholas I. The main print run was made at the St. Petersburg Mint. There are variants of the medal, which is due to the fact that it was allowed to manufacture the medal by private workshops. Different versions may differ slightly in the details of the image.
