An extremely rare medal in excellent condition. Silver, stamping. In the center of the obverse is a profile portrait of Empress Elizabeth I, facing right. Around the circumference there is a circular inscription in Old Slavonic: B•M•ELIZABETH•I•IMP•ICAMOD•VSEROS (By the Grace of God, Elizabeth I, Empress and Autocrat of Russia). In the center of the reverse is a Russian warrior in ancient Roman armor. In his left hand he holds an unfurled Russian banner, and in his right hand he holds a spear. With his foot, the warrior tramples on an overturned jug, from which water flows out. On the original copies, the inscription "R. Oder" is visible on the jet of water. Nearby there are broken cannons, abandoned weapons, shells and standards with the monogram of the Prussian King Frederick II the Great. The panorama of Frankfurt an der Oder, near which the battle raged, is visible against the background. At the top there is an inscription along the arc "TO THE WINNER", at the bottom under the edge: "OVER THE PRUSSIANS / AUG. 1, 1759.".
The medal was established on August 11, 1760, during the reign of Empress Elizabeth Petrovna in memory of the most important victory of the Russian troops in the Seven Years' War.This medal was awarded to soldiers of the Russian army who took direct part in the legendary Battle of Kunersdorf on August 1, 1759. On this day, the allied Russian-Austrian army under the command of General-in-Chief P. S. Saltykov completely defeated the supposedly invincible Prussian army of King Frederick II.
