A 40-franc coin from the 11th year of the Republic (AN XI). Bonaparte is the First Consul. The Paris Mint.

The original rare coin is in very good condition. This type is of high historical and cultural value, as it reflects the turning point of the Consulate, when Napoleon Bonaparte had already concentrated sole power in his hands, but the state was officially called a Republic. 900 gold samples. Obverse: Profile portrait of First Consul Napoleon Bonaparte with his head uncovered (without a laurel wreath), facing left. There is a circular legend along the edge: BONAPARTE PREMIER CONSUL. The engraver's mark (patterned loop) is located under the base of the neck. Reverse: The face value of 40 FRANCS is indicated in the center in two lines, framed by a laurel wreath. There is a circular inscription REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE along the edge. The year of minting according to the revolutionary calendar is indicated in the lower part — AN XI. To the left of the year is the mint director's badge (rooster), to the right is the letter A (Paris). Edge: Indented inscription in French * DIEU PROTEGE LA FRANCE (God protects France). The additional macro photographs clearly show the initial marker (star) and fragments of the DIEU and PROTEGE mottos. Guarantee of authenticity.

Very good collector's condition (XF). The coin has a pleasant golden color and an even age-old patina. There is a uniform delicate wear of the highly protruding details of the hairstyle on the obverse and the elements of the wreath on the reverse. The fields are clean, with minimal natural signs of habitation. The edging is smooth, the edge inscription is deep, without interference, completely stamped along the entire perimeter of the rib.

This type of coinage was carried out according to the famous law of 7 Germinal XI, which laid the foundation for the French hard currency system ("franc germinal"). Due to the short period of issue (the 11th and 12th years of the republic), these coins are found on the numismatic market much less frequently than imperial issues and are highly valued by Napoleonic collectors.
