The badge of the Spanish Military Cross ("Cross of War")

Silver, enamel, stamping, gilding. The award is made in the form of an eight-pointed radiant star (breastplate). In the center is an enameled shield with the coats of arms of Castile (castle) and Leon (lion), surrounded by a blue ring with the inscription "AL MERITO EN CAMPAÑA" ("For services to the campaign"). Four golden swords are placed crosswise between the beams. There is a crown at the top of the cross, a castle at the bottom, and lions on the sides. The reverse is smooth. Excellent condition. This award was established in Spain to recognize outstanding achievements in combat. Military Cross (Cruz de Guerra), sometimes called "For services to the campaign" (Al Mérito en Campaña).
