History

Order of the Yugoslav Crown (Serb. The Order of Jugoslovenske Krune) is a state award of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. It was established on April 5, 1930 in memory of the change in the official name of the country. The Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes in 1929 became known as the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. The Order was awarded to citizens of Yugoslavia for diligence in achieving national unity and cooperation, for services to the Crown, the State and the nation in public service, as well as foreign citizens, mainly for diplomatic services. The Order had 5 degrees. On January 6, 1929, the King of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes Alexander I Karageorgievich dissolved the Serbian People's Assembly and assumed full power, thereby committing a coup d'etat on October 3, 1929, the state became known as the Kingdom of Yugoslavia. A course was taken to create a single people — the Yugoslavs. In honor of this event, the king established a new order on April 5, 1930.

The award was awarded to the subjects of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia for: dedication to the preservation of national unity or cooperation, or for services to the Crown, the State and the nation in public activities; as well as to foreign citizens, mainly for diplomatic services.

The Order of the Yugoslav Crown had five degrees and was worn on a dark blue ribbon. The badges of the order were made by the French firm Artis Bertrand and the Swiss firm Huguenin.
