The badge "Excellent Border Guard of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs" is a departmental badge established in 1949 by the Main Directorate of the Border Troops of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs. It was awarded to the rank and file, foremen and sergeants of the border troops for excellent border protection service, skillful actions in detaining violators, discipline and exemplary behavior. The badge was made in the form of a diamond-shaped shield, bordered in green with oak leaves on the lower sides and the inscription "Excellent border guard" at the top. The badge was awarded until 1957.
