Badge "Excellent student of the socialist competition of the People's Commissariat of Education" No. 5266

The original sign is in excellent condition. Bronze, enamel, silver plating. The sign depicts a miner in a helmet and work clothes, holding a jackhammer in his right hand, and in his left — the shaft of a waving red banner with a sickle and hammer. In the background, you can see a coal mine. Along the left edge, along the contour of the copra, there is an inscription "DRUG ADDICTION". At the bottom of the sign, on stylized ribbons, there is an inscription in three lines: "EXCELLENT STUDENT OF THE SOCIALIST COMPETITION." Guarantee of authenticity.

This departmental insignia was awarded by the People's Commissariat of the Coal Industry of the USSR in the period from 1941 to 1946. The regulations on the sign were officially approved by the People's Commissar of the Coal Industry, V. V. Vakhrushev, on February 10, 1941. The badge was awarded to advanced workers, Stakhanovites, engineers, technicians and employees of the coal and shale industries of the USSR for outstanding achievements in work, exceeding production plans, innovation and successful organization of socialist competition. Since the People's Commissariat of Coal was divided into two independent ministries in January 1946 (the coal industry of the western and eastern regions), the awarding of this particular badge ceased.
