Bronze, enamel. Size 38*45 mm. Moscow factory "Victory». The sign is made in the form of a shield filled with red enamel, superimposed on a wreath of oak leaves. There is a curl at the top of the shield, and a thin band runs along the perimeter. The inner body of the shield includes two elements-a sphere with the image of a hammer and sickle on a scarlet background, surrounded by a white edging with the inscription "Excellent torpedoman" and the image of a submarine torpedo with a mine. Guarantee of authenticity.
The sign was established one of the first – in may 1942 by decree of the Supreme Soviet of the country. The regulation on the badge stated that it was awarded to Navy torpedoists from among the rank and file and Junior commanders. The basis for awarding the badge was accurate guidance of torpedoes with the defeat of enemy targets, masterful handling of equipment and weapons, the safety of state property, exemplary discipline. And all this was fixed by the General fighting prowess and heroic strength of spirit. The badge lasted until 1957, when all previously issued badges of excellent students of the second world war period were canceled.
