Bronze, enamel, stamping. Very good collector's condition. The sign consists of two composite elements – a wreath and a shield superimposed on the branches of an oak tree, intertwined with a ribbon. In the upper part of the shield, filled with red enamel, there is a scarlet medallion with the hammer and sickle emblem, which is encircled by a white stripe with the name of the badge – "Excellent Shooter". Two crossed rifles are visible in the lower part. The badge is attached to the clothes by means of a screw and a nut. The size of the sign is 4.6 by 3.7 centimeters. The twist is included. Guarantee of authenticity.
The sign was established by the decision of the Supreme Council of the country in June 1947. It extended its effect to the rank and file and junior commanders of the Red Army troops. The basis for awarding the award was considered to be excellent knowledge of weapons, the ability to quickly assemble and disassemble the barrel. Accurate shooting from various types of weapons, be it a pistol or a rifle, was a prerequisite. Excellent conservation of the entrusted state property was also encouraged. The badge was abolished in 1957 with the beginning of the rearmament of the army. Three new universal awards for the army and Navy have replaced the numerous badges of excellent students of the Second World War and the post-war years. The government did not touch only the badge for excellent firefighters, which was awarded from the moment of approval throughout the entire history of the USSR. There are two types of awards for shooters, which differ somewhat in performance. The first version of the sign is made using silver plating, and the second has a bright golden hue due to the use of enameling technologies. There are also differences in some design elements of the badge, in particular, oak leaves, some letters in the name of the badge.
