The cover depicts a Guard junior sergeant Pyotr Osipovich Boloto, Hero of the Soviet Union, armed with a Shpagin submachine gun (PPSh). Peter Boloto (1909-1966) became famous as an outstanding armor-piercing fighter during the Battle of Stalingrad: On July 23, 1942, a group of four armored tankers (Peter Boloto, Konstantin Belikov, Grigory Samoilov and Ivan Aleynikov) with two anti-tank anti-tank guns engaged in battle against 30 German tanks. The group managed to destroy 15 tanks, 8 of which were personally shot down by Peter Boloto.
