The original magazine is in good collector's condition. The cover depicts a Guard junior sergeant Pyotr Osipovich Boloto, Hero of the Soviet Union, armed with a Shpagin submachine gun (PPSh). Peter Boloto (1909-1966) became famous as an outstanding armor-piercing fighter during the Battle of Stalingrad: On July 23, 1942, a group of four armored tankers (Peter Boloto, Konstantin Belikov, Grigory Samoilov and Ivan Aleynikov) with two anti-tank anti-tank guns engaged in battle against 30 German tanks. The group managed to destroy 15 tanks, 8 of which were personally shot down by Peter Boloto. On November 5, 1942, for this unprecedented feat, Peter Boloto was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. The format is 270*340 mm. Black and white illustrations. Minor damage to the cover. Ogonek is a Russian and Soviet socio-political, literary and artistic illustrated weekly magazine. The magazine was published in Moscow from 1923 to 2021. During the Soviet period, the circulation of the publication reached several million copies. As of 2017, the magazine had a circulation of about 80,000 copies. On December 21, 2020, the publication of the printed version was announced.
