Aviakhim is a mass voluntary public organization of citizens of the USSR, which existed in 1925-1927; an association of the Society of Friends of the Air Fleet and Dobrohim. The first significant event was the holding of a large flight for that time (1925) of a group of 6 aircraft on the route Moscow — Ulaanbaatar-Beijing. The mission of the flight included a comprehensive check of the reliability of domestic aircraft and engines, as well as a thorough study of the route of future air services. In the same year, Aviakhim, together with the Air Force Directorate and Dobrolet, conducted an agitation campaign to familiarize the population with aviation. At the same time, 55 aircraft were sent to various areas of the Soviet Union, mainly to the most remote from industrial and cultural centers. Many thousands of Soviet people had the opportunity to see the plane for the first time and make short flights as passengers. Aviakhim held the third All-Union glider Competitions in the Crimea (1925), organized a number of flights (1926), handed over to the country 159 military and civilian aircraft built on voluntary monetary contributions of Soviet citizens. The society had 72 clubs, 2 thousand libraries, about 1000 aviation clubs. In 1927, Aviachim merged with the Defense Assistance Society in Osoaviachim.
