Description

Blue cloth, gold braid. A pair of original shoulder straps in good condition. Height 3. Shoulder straps of this type were introduced by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR on 06.01.1943 "On the introduction of new insignia for the personnel of the Red Army." Minor contamination of the lining. No buttons. They belonged to Aviation Major General Udonin I. D. The set also includes a congratulatory address on the Day of the Soviet Army and Navy from Komsomol members of the Tambov Higher Military Aviation School. Guarantee of authenticity.

History

Ilya Davydovich Udonin (May 23 [June 5] 1905 — June 10, 1991) was a Soviet military commander, Major General of aviation, member of the CPSU. He was born on May 23 (June 5), 1905 in the village of Verkhne-Chirskaya (now Verkhnechirsky farm in the Surovikinsky district of the Volgograd region). Since 1919, he has been engaged in military service, public and political work. From 1919 to 1926, he was a soldier of the First Cavalry Army, participated in the battles against Denikin, Shkuro and Mamontov, fought with the gangs of Makhno and Petlyura, and was awarded the Order of the Red Banner for the 10th anniversary of the First Cavalry Army in 1930. Cadet of the divisional school of junior commanders, squad leader of the 23rd Cavalry Regiment of the 4th Cavalry Division, assistant platoon commander, platoon foreman, platoon commander in the 19th Cavalry Regiment of the 4th Cavalry Division, cadet of parachute instructor courses, parachutist instructor. Cadet of the Borisoglebsk military school, pilot. Participant of the Soviet-Finnish War (1939-1940), colonel, commander of the 58th high-speed bomber Aviation regiment, awarded the Order of Lenin on 15.01.1940. Participant of the Great Patriotic War, commander of the 103rd mixed and 261st assault air divisions of the Karelian Front. Head of the military school of pilots named after M. Raskova in Engels. From 1945 to 1960— he was the head of the Tambov Higher Military Aviation School of Pilots named after M. M. Raskova. He died on June 10, 1991 in Tambov.
