OSOAVIAKHIM cigarette case "Strengthening the defense of the USSR"

An original and very rare cigarette case in excellent collector's condition. The cigarette case is a metal box with a decal on the top cover with the inscription: "Strengthening the defense of the USSR" under the emblem of OSOAVIAKHIM (Society for the Promotion of Defense, Aviation and Chemical Construction). The OSOAVIAKHIm emblem combines key elements symbolizing the readiness of Soviet citizens to work and defend the state.:

• The red five—pointed star, sickle and hammer are classic state symbols of the Soviet Union, representing the power of workers and peasants.


• A rifle with a fixed bayonet is a symbol of land defense, rifle training and readiness to defend the country's borders.


• The two—bladed propeller of the aircraft symbolizes the development of Soviet aviation and The air fleet (relevant for slogans like "Working people, build an air fleet!").


• The gear and ears of wheat are the industrialization of industry and the wealth of agriculture.


• A gas mask tank (or cylinder) with a hose in the very center indicates "chemical construction" and chemical defense, which was one of the main activities of the society.
