The lot includes 4 sketches of the Triumphal Arch designed for the passage of the victorious soldiers in 1945. The size of each sheet is 310*440 mm. With the architect's signature in the lower right corner. Kinks in the center, as a result of which each sheet almost fragmentarily splits into 2 parts. Guarantee of authenticity.

History

Mikhail Andreevich Ilyin (March 20, 1903, Moscow — May 19, 1981, there) was a Soviet art historian, architectural historian, Muscovite, Doctor of Art History (1956), head of the Department of the History of Russian Art of the Historical Faculty of Moscow State University in 1967-1972. Russian Russian specialist in the history of early Moscow icon painting, Moscow architecture of the XIV—XVII centuries, the emergence of Russian tent church architecture, architecture of Moscow of the XVIII century, architectural and artistic heritage of Moscow and the Moscow region, researched Russian carved bone, also the author of numerous popular publications on the history and theory of architecture and guides to Moscow and the Moscow region, memoir book "Paths and Searches art historian".

He was born in the family of a landowner near Moscow, Andrei Nikolaevich Ilyin, a cousin of the famous philosopher I.A. Ilyin, and Maria Feodorovna von Kleist, from the Russified branch of the famous German family, which gave Germany a large number of military figures. In 1922-1926 he studied at Moscow State University in the Department of Art History of the Ethnological Faculty, specializing both in the field of ancient Russian architecture and in the study of the Russian noble estate. After graduation, he worked in the Tretyakov Gallery and in the Architectural Office created by A. I. Nekrasov at Moscow State University, which was engaged in measurements of buildings demolished in Moscow. He also participated in measurement expeditions to the North of Russia in order to study monuments, including wooden architecture. Since 1922, he has been a member of the Society for the Study of the Russian Estate and the society "Old Moscow" (until their dissolution in 1930). On January 3, 1934, he was arrested together with a group of CGRM employees on charges of obstructing the authorities in breaking down ancient monuments (including the Sukharev Tower) in order to educate young people in the nationalist spirit, on March 5 of the same year he was exiled to Kazakhstan for 3 years. He lived in Petropavlovsk, working as a draftsman. After returning from exile, having no right to be in Moscow, he settled in Alexandrov, then in Maloyaroslavets. In 1941, he was called to the front, was wounded and demobilized.

After demobilization, he was able to return to Moscow, in 1943 he defended his PhD thesis "History of Russian Architecture of the XVI century" at Moscow State University and again got a job at the Tretyakov Gallery, also teaches at the Architectural Institute. As a practical architect, he also participated in the design of the Serpukhovskaya metro station (now Dobryninskaya), built with elements of Russian medieval architecture. Since 1947, Mikhail Ilyin became an employee of the Institute of Art History of the USSR Academy of Sciences (until 1960), as well as a teacher of the Department of Art History of the Historical Faculty of Moscow State University, where he worked until the end of his life. He was buried in the columbarium of the Vagankovo Cemetery.
