Cast iron, casting. Kasli. Height 52 cm. The length is 43 cm. The sculptor E. Lancer. Excellent condition. Guarantee of authenticity.
The original name of the model is "Jigitovka". One of the most famous and widely replicated plastic compositions by the famous St. Petersburg sculptor E. A. Lancere, reflecting the ethnographic trend in the Russian style of the second half of the XIX century. It was cast according to his model of 1874 (with or without the sculptor's surname on the base of the stand) in cast iron at the Kasli plant since the mid-1870s. Production in other materials, in particular in patinated bronze, has not been recorded in museum and private collections, which indicates the ownership of the Kasli plant for the author's Lancere model. Until 1917, the work was produced in two sizes, large and small (28×22.5×13 cm), after the reduction of a large sculpture was performed by the factory shaper V. F. Torokin in the early 1890s. The inscription "slave V.Torokin" is always present on the bottom of the stand of a reduced cast iron casting. During the Soviet period, the casting of the Lezgin Jigitovka in two sizes resumed at the Kasli plant, starting in the late 1950s and early 1960s.
