Ion (John) Sidorovich Soltys (5 September 1923 — 11 Feb 1945) — hero of the Soviet Union, a machine gunner 548 th infantry regiment (116 th infantry division, 52 army, 1 St Ukrainian front), the red army. Born September 5, 1923 in the village of Kuzmin Kamensky district is now the Republic of Moldova in the family of a shepherd. Ukrainian. Graduated from primary school. He worked on the farm.
When the war began, and entered the village, the Germans went to fight in the guerrilla unit. Met on the road construction Kuzmin—stove with Secretary Kamenskaya underground organization. Then began to distribute leaflets in the villages of Kuzmin, Ocnita, pear with news from the front. In April 1944, the ion along with cousins Maxim and Yemelyan was drafted into the army. In early may 1944 after training in a reserve regiment 2 first Ukrainian front from marching the company was sent to the front.
