The postcard titled "The bourgeoisie must be bridled" is an example of Soviet propaganda during the Civil War. It was created by the State Publishing House (GIZ) of the RSFSR.
Plot: The image caricatures a worker in a cap, straddling an obese bourgeois (capitalist) and using him as a working animal. In the background, a second worker with a pitchfork can be seen, as well as factory chimneys smoking red smoke, which highlights the industrial and revolutionary context.
Meaning: The image illustrates a famous quote attributed to a prominent figure of the Bolshevik Party To Nikolai Bukharin, who is also a signature to the postcard: "The bourgeoisie must be bridled, saddled and driven out." This expression symbolizes the need to subjugate and exploit the former ruling class in the interests of the proletariat and the construction of a new, socialist society.
Artist: Although many sources associate this series of posters with the name of the famous Soviet artist Dmitry Moor (Orlov), some auction houses indicate that the authorship may be anonymous or belong to another artist of that era.
The print run of the postcard is unknown. Yellowing of the paper, scuffs. Guarantee of authenticity.
