Description

A rare original Soviet propaganda postcard in excellent collector's condition. Released in 1939, it is the most striking monument to the Soviet-Japanese armed confrontation in the Far East (the conflicts at Lake Hassan in 1938 and on the Khalkhin Gol River in 1939).

The obverse side is a classic caricature created by the legendary tandem of masters of the Soviet political poster — Viktor Denis and By Nikolai Dolgorukov. The composition is designed in an expressive grotesque style: a faceted Soviet bayonet rests directly on the nose of a Japanese soldier screaming in pain (a caricature image of a "samurai"), knocking off his headdress. In the background, red flags are flying against the background of snow-covered hills and the Soviet border post with the inscription "USSR" is clearly visible. There is a warning poem by the famous poet Alexander Zharov on the right.:

"You stay out of it, samurai,
To fight with the red army,
Never in the Soviet territory
There will be no samurai!"

The artists have sketched additional graphic silhouettes of caricature characters below the poem.

The reverse side is clean, has not passed through the mail, without traces of household pollution, ink blots or postmarks. In the lower right corner there is a neat archive number, drawn with a simple pencil by the collector, which does not spoil the appearance and emphasizes the provenance of the item. The design includes a standard "Where To" address grid. / To whom" and the frame "For the stamp". The title "Postcard" is duplicated below in the international Esperanto language — "POŜTA KARTO". In the lower part, under the dividing line, the full publisher's output data is written in small print: Glavlita B-58229, Iskusstvo 10010, circulation 50,000 copies, order 11, lithograph "Iskusstvo" Moscow, 1939, price 12 K. The small pre-war circulation significantly increases the collector's rarity of this specimen.

A vivid example of pre-war Soviet visual agitation. The object has a high historical, cultural, museum and antique value. An excellent exhibit in the collection on the history of the Red Army, border troops, Soviet satire and philocarty.

Excellent collectible preservation for a paper artifact from the pre-war era. The postcard has no creases, tears, traces of wetting or restoration. The thick paper has retained its smooth texture and the natural yellowish tint of time (natural patina), pleasant to the eye. All the colors of the lithography on the front and the fonts on the back remained clear and contrasting.

We recommend it!
