Propaganda satirical postcard "Who is a hunter to a foreign land...", 1939.

A rare original Soviet propaganda postcard from the pre-war period in excellent collector's condition. The publication was published in 1939 and is the most striking monument of Soviet political satire, vividly reflecting the defeat of Japanese militarists in armed conflicts in the Far East (at Lake Hassan in 1938 and on the Khalkhin Gol River in 1939).

On the front side at the top of the card is an official quote from the People's Commissar of Defense of the USSR K. E. Voroshilov from his report at the historic XVIII Congress of the CPSU (b) in March 1939.:

"... we moved to Lake Hassan to crawl through the Soviet gateway to warm our hands on other people's goods, to fix our complicated affairs. The results of this robbery are well known." (From the speech of K. E. Voroshilov at the XVIII Congress of the CPSU (b))".

The central part of the graphic field is occupied by a powerful allegorical caricature, masterfully executed by the famous trio of Soviet graphic artists — Kukryniks in their recognizable expressive and grotesque manner. The plot literally illustrates the words of the People's Commissar: the monumental Soviet gates are tightly locked with a heavy red padlock with a hammer and sickle. Caricatured Japanese officers in general's uniforms are trying in vain to get out from under the gates ("doorways"), one of whom throws a samurai sword in a panic. Faceted bayonets of Soviet rifles are aimed at the interventionists on the right. Below is a harsh and prophetic poetic text by the poet Mikhail Kossovsky.:

"Who is a hunter of a foreign land
And who's going to march on us?,
The one from the Soviet gateway
He won't come back alive."

On the back there is a message written in ink. The design includes a standard "Where To" address grid. / To whom" and the "Place for the stamp" frame. The large heading "Postcard" is duplicated below in the international Esperanto language — "POŜTA KARTO". The name of the publishing house is placed in the upper left corner.: The state publishing house "Art".

In the lower part, under the dividing line, the full publishing and typographic data identical to other issues of this series are written in small print: Hood. Kukryniksy, Verse By M. Kossovsky, Edited By N. Bolberg, Vol. Glavlita No. A-10649, "Art" No. 6239, circulation 50,000 copies, order No. 32, lithograph of the publishing house "Art", Moscow, Dmitrovsky, 9, price 15 kopecks. A small pre-war circulation of 50,000 copies significantly increases the collectible rarity of this lot.

The object has a high historical, cultural, museum and antique value. Such a harsh propaganda philocarty of the pre-war years is of great importance for understanding the era. Due to the fragility of the material and the tragic events of the subsequent Great Patriotic War, single copies have survived to the present day in an unused form. A wonderful exhibit in the collection of Soviet graphics, the history of the People's Commissariat of Defense, the Red Army and pre-war satire.

Condition:

Excellent collectible preservation for a paper artifact from the pre-war era. The postcard has no creases, tears, traces of wetting or restoration. The thick pre-war paper has retained its smooth texture and the natural light shade of the time (natural patina), pleasant to the eye. All the colors of the lithography on the front and the fonts on the back remained perfectly clear and contrasting. A completely original collector's item with no hidden defects.
