In the early Soviet Union there was an interesting post – rural contractor. For this position appointed civilians aged 18 to 50 years (men) and 45 years (for women) for a period of two months. For the villages, which houses village Council, the number of prescribed rural performers depended on population (rural 1 executor 300 people), and for the other settlements belonging to the rural Council, one of the rural artist. So who are rural workers? This is the usual combatants. In the 1920-ies was a difficult situation with personnel in the police, and therefore in 1924 by a decree of the Central Executive Committee and SNK of the RSFSR was established an Institute of rural performers. Their duties included the protection of public order, detention and escort of suspects, the execution of the duties of bailiffs. They had full responsibility as an official. For all time of existence of the Institute of rural artists in this post have been about half a million Soviet citizens.
In 1926 he introduced a badge for the rural performers. Sign sizes are large enough – 83mm in length and 60 mm in width. In the centre of the mark is a hammer and sickle on the background of the ears, and above them a five-pointed star at the bottom on the stylized ribbon, the inscription "rural artist". The label was carried out by means of the screw and twist. It is noteworthy that the tape is coated with red enamel and the sign itself was Golden-copper. But in this "perfect" shape characters survived quite a bit. Much more today at an antique present characters in a state of "from the earth". Due to the fact that there is no data on the number of issued badges, we can only guess about their circulation. It is necessary to consider that in some cases, the marks were passed from artist to artist (which is ultimately very effect on their safety), and in other cases in connection with the loss of the mark could issue a new one.
