The cover is designed in an expressive poster style, combining black outlines and a bright red fill on a gray-green background. A close-up of a Soviet soldier in a steel helmet (helmet) is depicted, who forcefully hits the head of a cartoon Nazi invader with the butt of a Mosin rifle. The enemy is depicted with a swastika on his sleeve, in a torn uniform and with a bloody knife in his hand, which emphasizes the cunning and inevitable defeat of the enemy.

This is Aseev's first frontline publication. The collection is a quick, prompt reaction of the poet to the attack of Nazi Germany.
