The most pretentious edition of the officer's atlas. It contains 39 maps and 70 pages of explanations. It was awarded to the commanders of regiments, corps, divisions. The publication was prepared by the 7th Department of the General Staff of the Red Army as of January 1, 1938. The circulation is limited, the atlas was not available for free sale. This "Atlas of the Commander of the Red Army" is a necessary tool for in-depth study of military geography and history and a desktop reference book when reading periodicals. The atlas is compiled taking into account the latest surveys and other cartographic sources accumulated as a result of numerous studies. The result of using the data obtained by scientists is a major work — a map of the USSR on a scale of 1:5000000, placed in an atlas on four sheets (No. 24-27). This map served as the basis for other atlas maps compiled on a smaller scale. Of the 39 maps and tables placed in the atlas, 26 are original cartographic works, 7 special small-scale maps of the world (No. 9-15) were compiled using the Great Soviet Atlas of the World and 6 maps of parts of the world (No. 28, 32, 35-38) were compiled on the basis of the corresponding maps of foreign atlases. The atlas contains geographical and political maps of all countries of the world, the starry sky and the solar system, maps of magnetic declinations, average air temperatures, Köppen climates, vegetation map, zoogeogriphic map, channels and straits, comparative sizes of territories. The maps are colored, large-scale. To quickly find the desired geographical object on the map, an alphabetical index of geographical names attached to the atlas is used.
