A very rare collectible cigarette case in excellent condition. Iron, nickel plating, engraving. Made at the Zlatoust factory specially as a gift to the editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Izvestia" to Leonid Fedorovich Ilyichev. Guarantee of authenticity. Rare!

History

Leonid Fedorovich Ilyichev (March 2 (15), 1906, Yekaterinodar — August 18, 1990, Moscow) was a Soviet philosopher and party leader. Doctor of Philosophy, full member of the USSR Academy of Sciences since June 29, 1962 in the Department of Economic, Philosophical and Legal Sciences (Philosophy). Laureate of the Lenin Prize (1960) and the V. V. Vorovsky Prize (1963).

In 1918-1924, he was a worker. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1924. In 1930 he graduated from the North Caucasian Communist University, and in 1937 — the Institute of the Red Professorship (philosophy). In 1937-1944 he was engaged in teaching. For about 20 years he worked in the central press (executive secretary of the magazine "Bolshevik" in 1938-1944; editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Izvestia" in 1944-1948; editor-in-chief of the newspaper "Pravda" in 1951-1952; head of the Press Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR in 1953-1958, at the same time headed the editorial office of the magazine "International Life").

In 1958-1961 — Head of the Propaganda and Agitation Department of the Central Committee of the CPSU for the Union Republics. One of the authors of the book "Face to Face with America" (1959). In 1961-1965 — Secretary of the Central Committee, Chairman of the Ideological Commission. The ideologist of Khrushchev's anti-religious campaign. Under his leadership, the commission developed "Measures to strengthen the atheistic education of the population", issued in the form of a resolution of the Central Committee of the CPSU dated January 2, 1964. L. F. Ilyichev further strengthened the anti-religious meaning of the decree in a program article in the magazine "Communist". He took part in the suppression of the 1962 protests in Novocherkassk (Novocherkassk shooting). In 1965-1989 — Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, since 1989 — Adviser to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. Candidate for membership in the Central Committee of the CPSU (1952-1956 and 1981-1990). Member of the Central Audit Commission of the CPSU (1956-1961 and 1976-1981). Member of the Central Committee of the CPSU (1961-1966).

Author of works on dialectical and historical materialism, foreign policy of the USSR and international relations. He was Chairman of the Scientific Council of the USSR Academy of Sciences on the complex problem of "Patterns of development of socialism and transition to communism". In December 1985, he donated a collection of paintings from his personal collection to the Krasnodar Regional Art Museum. He was buried at the Kuntsevo Cemetery in Moscow. Guarantee of authenticity.
