The 57-mm anti-tank gun of the 1941 model (ZIS-2) (Grau — 52-P-271 index) was a Soviet anti-tank gun of the period of the great Patriotic war. This gun, developed under the direct supervision of V. G. Grabin, in 1940, was, at the time of the beginning of mass production, the most powerful anti-tank gun in the world — so powerful that in 1941 the gun did not have worthy goals, which led to its withdrawal from production ("due to excessive armor penetration" — quote), in favor of cheaper and more technological guns. However, with the appearance of new heavily armored German Tiger tanks in 1943, production of the gun was resumed. On the basis of the ZIS-2, a tank gun was created, this gun was installed on the first Soviet serial anti-tank self-propelled artillery installations ZIS-30. 57-mm guns ZIS-2 fought from 1941 to 1945, later, for a long time, were in service with the Soviet army.
