An extremely rare headdress of the NKVD border troops in a good collector's condition. The panama hat is made of sand-colored cotton fabric. Structurally, the headdress consists of a cap formed by four wedges and wide stitched margins. Three riveted steel ventilation holes are installed on each of the wedges of the hood. The lining is made of red calico to reflect the infra-red radiation of the sun. Traces of corrosion on the grommets and contamination of the fabric. The chin strap is lost. The green border star was sewn originally during production (before the lining was installed). It is equipped with a 31-mm star of the 1936 model with an overhead SiM. The stamp of the artel "Trud" (Ivanovo) and the release date of the product — 1940 are perfectly readable on the lining. This panama hat was introduced for military personnel in hot areas on March 10, 1938 by order of the NKVD of the USSR No. 61, but similar uniforms for border guards were introduced even earlier: a subtropical helmet by order of the NKVD No. 399 of December 27, 1935 and an open jacket for districts with a subtropical climate by order of the NKVD of the USSR No. 275 of 07/15/1937. Guarantee of authenticity.
