"They Fought for the Motherland" is a Soviet film by Sergei Bondarchuk based on the novel of the same name by Mikhail Sholokhov. The best film according to the survey of the magazine "Soviet Screen" in 1976. Filming took place from May to October 1974 in the Volgograd region.
