History

  1. "They Fought for the Motherland" is a Soviet film by Sergei Bondarchuk based on the novel of the same name by Mikhail Sholokhov. The best film according to the survey of the magazine "Soviet Screen" in 1976. Filming took place from May to October 1974 in the Volgograd region. In 1977, he was awarded the State Prize of the RSFSR named after the Vasiliev brothers.

Vadim Ivanovich Yusov (April 20, 1929, Klavdino, Leningrad Region, USSR — August 23, 2013[1], Moscow, Russia or Moscow) was a Soviet and Russian cinematographer who gained worldwide fame for his collaboration with directors Andrei Tarkovsky, George Danelia and Sergei Bondarchuk, a teacher. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1979). Laureate of the Lenin Prize (1982), the USSR State Prize (1984) and the State Prize of the RSFSR named after the Vasiliev brothers (1977). Winner of the Venice Film Festival — "Golden Ozella" (1988), three-time winner of the main national film award "Nika" (1991, 1992, 2004) and winner of the honorary Golden Eagle Award (2013).
