Vasily Petrovich Zelinsky was born in 1904 in the village of Novo-Nikolaevka (now Oktyabrsky district, Mykolaiv region) in a peasant family. Graduated from the 4th grade Zemstvo school in 1916. From February 1925, he was the commander of a rifle platoon, and from April 1931, he was the head of the chemical service of the 44th Infantry Regiment of the 15th Sivash Rifle Division. From October 1932 - Commander of the 6th division. chemical companies of the 6th rifle Corps. From April 1935 to September 1938, he attended the Frunze Military Academy. By Order of the NGO No. 01544 dated 09/08/1938, he was appointed Chief of Staff of the 19th Mechanized Brigade. By Order of the NGO No. 00962 dated 09/28/1941, he was appointed commander of the 24th Tank Brigade. On April 18, 1942, he became Chief of Staff of the 5th Tank Corps. On January 6, 1943, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the 20th Army for Tank Forces. Since February 3, 1943 - Commander of the BTIMV of the 20th Army. By Order of the NGO No. 03328 dated 06/07/1943, he was appointed Deputy Commander of the 1st Tank Corps for combat. On April 24, 1944, he became Deputy Head of the Combat Training Department of the Main Directorate for the Formation and Combat Training of the BTiMV KA. Since June 10, 1946 - Deputy.Head of the Department of Higher Educational Institutions, Commander of the BTiMV Armed Forces. Since July 29, 1946 - Commander of the 7th Mechanized Division. Since January 10, 1949, at the disposal of the Commander of the BTIMV of the Armed Forces. From September 15, 1949, he was the head of the Operational training Department of the headquarters of the aBTiMV Armed Forces. From July 5, 1950 to June 1951, he attended the Higher Academic Courses of the K.E. Voroshilov Higher Military Academy. Since June 19, 1951 - Deputy Chief of Staff of the BTIMV SA for organizational questions. Since January 7, 1954, at the disposal of the GUK of the Ministry of Defense of the USSR. He was discharged from the reserve on 02/09/1954. He died on August 11, 1968. He was buried at the Vvedenskoye Cemetery in Moscow.
