Ivan Alexandrovich Parkhomenko (1906-1971) was a Soviet military leader, Major General of aviation and a participant in the Great Patriotic War. He is also known as the eldest son of the legendary Civil War hero Alexander Yakovlevich Parkhomenko. Ivan Alexandrovich devoted his life to military aviation and personnel training for the USSR Air Force. He met the Great Patriotic War as Deputy head of the 14th Military Aviation School. Since November 1942, he headed this aviation school and supervised the training of Soviet pilots. He continued to serve in the military education system of the Air Force. He finished his military career as deputy head of the famous Yuri Gagarin Air Force Academy. For his services to the Motherland and the training of flight personnel, Major General Parkhomenko was awarded a number of state awards, including the Order of the Red Star (1944), as well as orders and medals for service in the Armed Forces of the USSR. Ivan Alexandrovich died in 1971. He is buried in Moscow at the prestigious Novodevichy Cemetery (6th plot) together with his mother, Haritina Grigorievna Parkhomenko, and his younger brother, Aviation Colonel Evgeny Alexandrovich Parkhomenko.
