An extremely rare photo in good collector's condition. The size is 220*145 mm. The photo is pasted on cardboard. In the center sits a well-recognized figure of the future Marshal of Victory Georgy Zhukov, who at that time was the commander of the 39th Cavalry Regiment. According to some experts, K. Rokossovsky is sitting to the left of the future marshal (circled in red). A rare group photo, guaranteed authenticity.
Georgy Konstantinovich Zhukov (November 19 (December 1), 1896, Strelkovka, Maloyaroslavetsky District, Kaluga Province, Russian Empire — June 18, 1974, Moscow, RSFSR, USSR) was a Soviet military and statesman. Marshal of the Soviet Union (1943), four times Hero of the Soviet Union (1939, 1944, 1945, 1956), Recipient of two Orders of Victory (1944, 1945). Minister of Defense of the USSR (1955-1957), deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th convocations, member of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the CPSU (June 29—October 29, 1957). In the post-war years, Zhukov was popularly known as the "Marshal of Victory." During the Great Patriotic War, he consistently held the positions of Chief of the Soviet General Staff, commander of the front, member of the Headquarters of the Supreme High Command, Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the USSR. After the war, he served as Commander-in-Chief of the Ground Forces, commanded the Odessa and then the Ural military districts. In 1957, he was expelled from the Central Committee of the CPSU, removed from all posts in the army and retired in 1958.
