Ilya Alekseevich Khvorostyanov (Khvorostyanov) (July 20, 1914, village of Saltykovo, Kursk province — February 19, 1988, Leningrad) was a Soviet military commander, vice admiral. Hero of the Soviet Union (1945).
He was born on July 7, 1914, according to the article of Art. in the village of Saltykovo (now Gubkin city district of the Belgorod region). Secondary education and two courses of the labor faculty. He worked as an accountant at the state farm. Member of the CPSU (b)/CPSU since 1940. In the Navy since June 1935. In 1939 he graduated from the Naval Artillery College named after LKSMU in Sevastopol. Since June 1939 — commander of the boat, since December 1940 — commander of the detachment of armored boats of the Iman separate division of river ships. From March to July 1943, he studied at the department of staff commanders of the Higher Special classes of the Navy command staff. Since July 1943, he has been Chief of Staff of the Ussuri separate Division of river ships. Since October 1943, he has been the commander of the Khankai separate detachment of river armored boats of the Amur Military Flotilla. He participated in the Soviet-Japanese war of 1945. The commander of the Khankai separate detachment of armored boats, Lieutenant Commander Ilya Hvorostyanov, led the combat operation of the 1st detachment in the period from August 9 to August 14, 1945 in the Yongfandun area. During the operation, the headquarters of the Japanese commandant's office was defeated, several Japanese riverboats were destroyed in the base, fortified positions were destroyed and a battle flag was captured. Together with the border guards, Lieutenant Commander Khvorostyanov I. A. successfully landed an army landing force that captured this settlement. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated September 14, 1945, for courage and heroism shown in the fight against Japanese militarists, Lieutenant Commander Ilya Alekseevich Khvorostyanov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal.
After the war, I. A. Khvorostyanov continued to serve in the Soviet Navy. Since February 1946 — commander of the 6th separate division of armored boats of the Amur Military Flotilla. Since December 1948, he was the head of the department at the headquarters of this flotilla, in December 1949 he left for study. In December 1952, he graduated with honors from the Voroshilov Naval Academy. Since December 1952, he served in the Naval General Staff. Since January 1953, he has been a military adviser to the commander of the Danube Military Flotilla of the Bulgarian People's Army. When on November 1, 1954, in the village of Nenoksa, near the city of Molotovsk, the formation of the 21st Naval training ground of the USSR began, its first chief since March 1955 was Hero of the Soviet Union, Captain 2nd rank Khvorostyanov I. A. In December 1964, he was appointed deputy head of the 4th Naval Institute for Missile Armament in Leningrad. Since January 1965, Rear Admiral Khvorostyanov I. A. has been the head of the Black Sea Higher Naval School named after P. S. Nakhimov. Since November 1971, he has been Deputy Head of the Higher Order of Lenin Special Classes of officers for academic work. Since June 1974, Vice Admiral I. A. Khvorostyanov has been in reserve. He lived in the hero city of Leningrad. He died on February 19, 1988. He was buried at the Serafimovsky Cemetery in St. Petersburg. He was awarded the Order of Lenin, four Orders of the Red Banner, the Order of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two Orders of the Red Banner of Labor, the Order of the Red Star, and medals.
