Ivan Khristoforovich (Hovhannes Khachaturovich) Bagramyan (November 20 [December 2] 1897, near the village of Chardakhly, Elizavetpol district, Elizavetpol province, Russian Empire — September 21, 1982, Moscow, RSFSR, USSR) was a Soviet commander, commander of armies and fronts in the Great Patriotic War. Twice Hero of the Soviet Union (1944, 1977), holder of seven Orders of Lenin (1944, 1945, 1947, 1957, 1967, 1972, 1977). Marshal of the Soviet Union (1955), member of the Central Committee of the CPSU.
