Alexander Ivanovich Pokryshkin (March 6 (19), 1913, Novo-Nikolaevsk, Tomsk Province, Russian Empire — November 13, 1985, Moscow, USSR) was a Soviet military commander and ace pilot during the Great Patriotic War, Marshal of Aviation (1972).
