Yuri Vasilyevich Chibisov (December 11, 1921, Abinskaya, Kuban-Black Sea Region — December 25, 1988, Leningrad) was a deputy squadron commander of the 15th Guards Nevsky Assault Aviation Regiment of the 277th Assault Aviation Division of the 13th Air Army of the Leningrad Front, a senior lieutenant in the Guards. Hero of the Soviet Union. In the Red Army since 1940. In 1942, he graduated from the Chkalov Military Aviation School of Pilots. At the front since September 1942. He fought on the Leningrad and 3rd Belorussian fronts. He participated in the defense of Leningrad, in the battles to lift the siege of Leningrad, in the liberation of the Leningrad and Pskov regions, Estonia, and in the battles in East Prussia. By July 1944, he had completed 180 combat sorties to bomb fortified enemy areas and attack his troops, 23 of them to attack long-range enemy artillery that was shelling Leningrad. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated October 26, 1944, Senior Lieutenant Yuri Vasilyevich Chibisov was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal for exemplary performance of combat missions of the command and the courage and heroism of the Guard. Since 1959, Colonel Yu.V. Chibisov has been in reserve. He lived in Leningrad. He died on December 25, 1988. He was buried at the Serafimovsky cemetery (21st century).
