History

Mikhail Fedorovich Ryabchevsky (bel. Mikhail Fedorovich Rabcheysky; January 3, 1912 — March 31, 1979) was a colonel in the Soviet Army, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union (1943). Mikhail Ryabchevsky was born on January 3, 1912 in the village of Beleshino (now Klimovichi district of Mogilev region of Belarus). In 1932, he graduated from the medical college. In 1933, Ryabchevsky was drafted into the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. In 1938, he graduated from the Stalingrad Military Aviation School of Pilots. Participated in the battles of the Soviet-Finnish war. Since the beginning of the Great Patriotic War — on its fronts. By October 1943, Major Mikhail Ryabchevsky was the navigator of the 807th Assault Aviation Regiment of the 206th Assault Aviation Division of the 8th Air Army of the Southern Front. By that time, he had made 104 combat sorties to attack enemy concentrations of military equipment and manpower, his important facilities, inflicting heavy losses on him. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated November 1, 1943, Major Mikhail Ryabchevsky was awarded the high title of Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal number 1277 for "exemplary performance of combat missions of the command at the front of the struggle against the German invaders and his courage and heroism." He was also awarded three Orders of the Red Banner, the Orders of Suvorov 3rd degree and Alexander Nevsky, three Orders of the Red Star, and a number of medals. After the end of the war, Ryabchevsky continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1956, with the rank of colonel, he was discharged into the reserve. He lived in Mogilev. He died on March 31, 1979.
