Stepan Konstantinovich Ananyin (June 22 [July 5] 1904 — January 12, 1960) was a Soviet military pilot, participant of the Great Patriotic War, commander of the 299th Assault Aviation Regiment of the 290th Assault Aviation Division of the 3rd Mixed Aviation Corps of the 17th Air Army of the Southwestern Front, Major. Hero of the Soviet Union (09/08/1943), retired colonel.
Born on June 22 (July 5), 1904 in the village of Gileva, Yekaterinburg district, Perm province (now Beloyarsk city District, Sverdlovsk Region) in a working—class family. Russian by nationality. Member of the CPSU since 1931. He received an incomplete secondary education. He worked at a textile factory, then at a factory in Sverdlovsk. He graduated from the aero club and the OSOAVIAKHIm flight school. He joined the Red Army in 1937. He graduated from the courses of flight commanders.
With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War at the front. He commanded the 299th Assault Aviation Regiment. On May 31, 1943, Major Ananyin, at the head of a group of twelve Il-2 aircraft, destroyed and damaged 18 enemy aircraft at the enemy airfield. Upon returning from a combat mission, he engaged in aerial combat, during which he shot down two aircraft. He was seriously injured, but was able to land the plane on his territory. As of July 1943, Ananyin had flown 219 combat missions and shot down four enemy aircraft. By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated September 8, 1943, Major Stepan Konstantinovich Ananyin was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star Medal (No. 1755) for exemplary performance of combat missions of the Command at the front of the struggle against the German invaders and his bravery and heroism.After the war, he continued to serve in the Air Force. Since 1953, Colonel Ananyin has been retired. He lived and worked in Sverdlovsk. He died on January 12, 1960, and was buried in the cemetery of the village of Chernousovo.
