Alexander Alekseevich Lipilin (January 18, 1913, Rasskazovo, Tambov province — February 27, 2003, Moscow) was a Soviet military pilot, participant in the Great Patriotic War, colonel, Hero of the Soviet Union (1942). He was born on January 18, 1913 in the village of Rasskazovo, Tambov province. After graduating from the seventh grade of school and the factory apprenticeship school, he lived and worked in Sverdlovsk. In 1934-1938 he served in the Workers' and Peasants' Red Army, and in 1937 he graduated from the Orenburg Military Aviation School of Pilots and Pilots. In 1940, he was re-drafted into the army. Since June 1941, he served on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War. By October 1941, Senior Lieutenant Alexander Lipilin commanded the 41st Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 7th Mixed Aviation Division of the Northwestern Front. By that time, he had flown 112 combat missions, shooting down 9 enemy aircraft personally, according to award documents, and according to recent research by Mikhail Bykov, 8 personally and 4 in a group, and destroyed more than 30 vehicles and 4 crossings during the attack. By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On awarding the title Hero of the Soviet Union to the commanding staff of the Red Army Air Force" dated February 24, 1942, he was awarded the high title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the medal for "exemplary performance of combat missions of the command at the front of the struggle against the German invaders and his bravery and heroism"Golden Star" number 677. In January 1942, he was recalled from the front and served in the ferrying aviation until the end of the war. By that time, he had flown 257 combat missions, conducted about 50 air battles, in which he personally shot down 8 and 7 more aircraft as part of a group. After the end of the war, he continued to serve in the Air Force. Since 1949 — commander of the aviation regiment, since December 1951 — Deputy commander of the aviation division, since December 1952 — commander of the aviation division. In 1954 he graduated from officer training courses, and in 1957 he graduated from the Higher Academic Courses at the Military Academy of the General Staff. In 1961, with the rank of colonel, Lipilin was discharged into the reserve. He lived in Moscow. Until 1984, he worked as an engineer at the Sukhoi Design Bureau. He died on February 27, 2003, and was buried at the Shirokorechenskoye Cemetery in Yekaterinburg. He was awarded two Orders of Lenin, two Orders of the Red Banner, two Orders of the Patriotic War of the 1st degree, two Orders of the Red Star, and a number of medals. In July 2019, Alexander Lipilin's MiG-3 fighter was found by the Demyansk search party.
