History

Nikolai Sazonovich Pavlushkin (September 8, 1917, Penza — June 19, 1958, Voronezh) was a Soviet military pilot. During the Great Patriotic War, he was a squadron commander of the 402nd Fighter Aviation Regiment (265th Fighter Aviation Division, 8th Air Army, 4th Ukrainian Front), senior Lieutenant. Hero of the Soviet Union.


He was born on September 8, 1917 in Penza, into a working-class family. Russian. In 1932, he graduated from the 7th grade of railway school No. 8. He worked as an electrician at the Penza-3 railway station. In the Red Army since 1938. In 1940 he graduated from the military cavalry school named after the First Cavalry Army in Tambov, in 1941 from the military aviation school at the North Caucasus Military District, in 1942 from the Stalingrad Military Aviation School of Pilots. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1943.


Lieutenant N. S. Pavlushkin has been in the active army since April 1943. He fought on the North Caucasus, Southern, and 4th Ukrainian fronts as part of the 402nd Fighter Aviation Regiment (until 1944) and the 812th Fighter Aviation Regiment (until March 1945). Then, until May 1945, he served in the Directorate of the 265th Fighter Aviation Division. He participated in air battles in the Kuban since April 20, 1943, during which he shot down 5 enemy aircraft. The squadron under his command carried out 495 sorties, destroyed 25 enemy aircraft in 71 air battles. By January 1944, N. S. Pavlushkin had made 134 successful sorties, shot down 13 enemy aircraft in 37 air battles. On July 1, 1944, by decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union. In total, during his participation in combat operations, according to N. G. Bodrikhin, he flew 425 combat sorties on Yak-1, Yak-9 and Yak-3 fighters, shooting down 19 enemy aircraft personally and 16 in a group in aerial battles, according to M. Y. Bykov, he had 15 personal victories.


After the war, Nikolai Sazonovich continued his service in the USSR Air Force as a division inspector in the GSVG. In the summer of 1947, he was seconded to the Central Council of Osoaviakhim (DOSAAF). In 1947-1950, he was an instructor pilot, commander of a detachment of the Kharkov Aero Club, in 1950-1954 - head of the flight unit of the Karaganda Aero Club, in 1954-1955 — head of the flight unit of the Voronezh Aero Club. Since July 1955, he has been the head of the Voronezh Regional DOSAAF Flying Club. On June 19, 1958, Lieutenant Colonel N. S. Pavlushkin died in a plane crash. He was buried at the Komintern Cemetery in Voronezh, where an obelisk was erected.
