Nikolai Konstantinovich Schutt (December 30, 1916 — March 30, 1977) was a fighter pilot, major, Hero of the Soviet Union.
Born on December 30, 1916 in the village of Pleshchenitsy, Minsk province, in the family of an employee. He graduated from the Rogachev Vocational School of Metalworkers, the driving school in Bobruisk and the Faculty of Labor at the Minsk Medical Institute. Since 1936 he worked at the Minsk confectionery factory "Kommunarka". Graduated from the Minsk Aero Club. In 1938, he was drafted into the Red Army. In the same year, after graduating from the Borisoglebsk Military Aviation School of pilots, he became a fighter pilot. In 1939, he was sent to the Far East. He participated in aerial battles in the Khalkhin Gol River area on an I-16 fighter. He had no victories over enemy aircraft. From December 1941, he fought on the Crimean, from May 1942 on the Southern, from March 1943 on the Voronezh, from July 1943 on the Steppe, from October 1943 on the 2nd Ukrainian, from July 1944 on the 1st Ukrainian fronts. He spent his first air battles on the Kerch Peninsula as a flight commander. In the summer of 1943, Senior Lieutenant Schutt commanded a squadron of the 270th Fighter Aviation Regiment. By September 1943, as an assistant commander of the 270th Fighter Aviation Regiment for the air rifle service of the 203rd Fighter Aviation Division of the 1st Assault Aviation Corps of the 5th Air Army of the Steppe Front, he had flown 315 combat missions, conducted 86 air battles, personally shot down 14 and 1 enemy aircraft in group.
By the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On awarding the title Hero of the Soviet Union to the officers of the Red Army Air Force" dated February 4, 1944, for "exemplary performance of combat missions of the command at the front of the struggle against the German invaders and the courage and heroism shown at the same time", he was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold medal A star."
He ended the Great Patriotic War in the skies of Berlin and Prague. By May 9, 1945, Guard Captain N. K. Schutt had flown 430 combat missions, conducted 104 air battles, and personally shot down 18 and 2 enemy aircraft in a group.
In August-September 1945, he participated in the Soviet-Japanese War. He fought on the 1st Far Eastern Front, and was an assistant commander of the 281st separate Transport Aviation Regiment in the air rifle service. Participated in the Harbin-Jilin operation. I had no meetings with enemy aircraft in the air.
In 1945, he graduated from the Lipetsk Higher Tactical Flight Courses. He commanded an Air Force squadron in the Far East. Since 1947, he has been Deputy commander of the air squadron (Transcaucasian and Odessa military districts). In May 1949, he joined the reserve with the rank of major. In 1950-1959, he lived in Belarus, in the village of Pukhovichi, and worked as a club manager. Then he moved to Moldova to the city of Tiraspol, worked as a driver. He died on March 30, 1977. He was buried at the Dalnoye cemetery in Tiraspol.
