Alexey Timofeevich Nazarov (March 4, 1912, Hutyn village, Novgorod Province — September 21, 1951) was a participant in the Great Patriotic War, a lieutenant colonel in the Guards. Deputy Commander of the 18th Guards Sevastopol Long-range Aviation Regiment, Hero of the Soviet Union (1944). Alexey Timofeevich Nazarov was born into a peasant family. After graduating from the 9th grade, he worked as a locksmith at a factory in Poltava. In 1931, he was drafted into the Red Army. In 1933 he graduated from the Leningrad Military Aviation Technical School, and in 1939 from the Engels Military Aviation School of Pilots. From June 1941, he served at the front in the 750th (later 3rd Guards) Aviation Regiment. From May 1943, he served in the 18th Guards Sevastopol Long-range Aviation Regiment (2nd Guards Aviation Division, 2nd Guards Bryansk Aviation Corps). On May 27, 1942, A. T. Nazarov and his crew, consisting of navigators of the Guard Majors Alekseev, Rezonov, Evseev and air gunner-radio operator Lieutenant Panasovsky, bombed Arenburg. The bombing of Konigsberg followed in July, and Danzig and Warsaw in August. The award list said:
When performing combat missions, Comrade Nazarov shows great courage: on the night of August 20, 1942, the Germans loaded dozens of trains of troops and military equipment, unloading fuel and ammunition. Silently, Nazarov's bomber approached at high altitude, perfectly illuminating the target. But the crew came under fire. With a masterful maneuver, he came out of the fire, using one plane or the other to block the rays of enemy searchlights, successfully bombed off, as a result of which an echelon with enemy equipment and ammunition was blown up. At that time, there were a large number of our aircraft over the target, which took advantage of the fact that Nazarov's plane distracted enemy fire, carried out a star raid, and successfully bombed the target.
On September 9, 1942, the crew participated in the bombing of Berlin. Four days later, the pilots struck Bucharest, Memel, Michelmand. By 1944, A. T. Nazarov had flown 215 combat missions, 205 of them at night. He passed on the combat experience he gained to young pilots. While still in the 3rd Guards Regiment, Nazarov trained 10 young pilots, specialists in night flights. Since May 1943, there have been 26 more pilots. Since 1946, Lieutenant Colonel Nazarov has been in reserve. He lived in the village of Klyazma in the Pushkin district. He was buried in Cherkizovo village, Pushkin district.
