Born June 8, 1913 in the city of Sarapul Vyatka province, now in the Republic of Udmurtia. From the family of the employee. Russian. Graduated from high school, trade schools Perm locomotive factory.

In the battles of the great Patriotic war with June 1941. Commander PL «M-171" of the 3rd division, a separate brigade of submarines of the Northern fleet captain-Lieutenant V. G. Starikov, acting on the communications of the enemy, to January 1942 completed 6 combat tours, twice breaking through a submarine in enemy base reported on the sinking 5 transports of the enemy.
