History

Vasily Alexandrovich Tomarov (February 12, 1921 — January 5, 2004) was a flight commander of the 872nd Assault Aviation Regiment of the 281st Assault Aviation Division of the 13th Air Army of the Leningrad Front, Lieutenant, Hero of the Soviet Union. Vasily Alexandrovich Tomarov was born on February 12, 1921 in the village of Zhilino, Ufa district, Ufa province (now part of the city of Ufa) into a peasant family. Russian. He graduated from the 7th grade of school. Member of the CPSU since 1944. Before being drafted into the army, Vasily Alexandrovich worked as a pilot instructor at the Ufa Aero Club. He was drafted into the Red Army in 1942 by the Ufa military enlistment office. In the same year he graduated from the Yeysk Naval Aviation School of Pilots. On the front of the Great Patriotic War since January 27, 1943.


Flight commander of the 872nd Assault Aviation Regiment (281st Assault Aviation Division, 13th Air Army, Leningrad Front), Lieutenant V. A. Tomarova distinguished himself in battles with the Nazi invaders. After the war, V. A. Tomarov continued to serve in the Soviet Army. In 1946, he graduated from the Higher Tactical Flight Training Courses for Officers, and in 1955 he graduated from the Air Force Academy. Since 1958, Lieutenant Colonel V. A. Tomarov has been in reserve. After returning to Ufa, he worked as an engineer at the Bashneftezavodstroy Trust, and as a military representative of the customer at the Ufa Engine Plant. He died on January 5, 2004. He was buried in Ufa at the Southern Cemetery.

V. A. Tomarov was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union on February 23, 1945.
