History

Grigory Yelizarovich Tkachev (March 11, 1915, Velikaya Znamenka, Taurida Province — November 2, 1987, Kirovograd) was a Soviet serviceman, participant of the Great Patriotic War, Hero of the Soviet Union, deputy navigator of the 240th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment for radio navigation of the 36th Bomber Aviation Division of the 1st Guards Bomber Aviation Corps of the 18th Air Army, Guard major. Hero of the Soviet Union.


He was born on March 11, 1915 in the village of Velikaya Znamenka, now in the Kamensk-Dneprovsky district of the Zaporizhia region. Member of the CPSU since 1942. He graduated from seven grades of junior high school and a factory apprenticeship school. He worked as a locksmith at the Manganese station in the Dnipropetrovsk region.


In 1937, he was drafted into the Red Army. He graduated from the Yeysk Naval Aviation School of Pilots in 1937, and from the Ryazan Higher School of Navigators in 1941. In the battles of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. By February 1945, Major G. E. Tkachev, Deputy navigator of the 240th Guards Bomber Aviation Regiment for Radio Navigation, had carried out 263 combat sorties to bomb military-industrial facilities deep behind enemy lines, as well as concentrations of his troops, causing significant damage. In seven aerial battles, he shot down one enemy plane.


By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated June 29, 1945, Major Grigory Elizarovich Tkachev was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal for exemplary performance of combat missions by the command to destroy enemy manpower and equipment and for his courage and heroism.


In 1954 he graduated from the Krasnodar Higher Officer School of navigators. Since 1958, Lieutenant Colonel G. E. Tkachev has been in reserve. He lived in Kropyvnytskyi (then Kirovograd). He died on November 2, 1987. He was buried in Kropyvnytskyi in the Pantheon of Eternal Glory.
