Boris Alekseevich Khlud (June 24, 1917 — September 21, 1990) was a squadron commander of the 146th Fighter Aviation Regiment of the 7th Guards Fighter Aviation Division of the 2nd Fighter Aviation Corps of the 1st Air Army of the Western Front, captain of the Guards. Hero of the Soviet Union (1943). He was born on June 24, 1917 in Bryansk in the family of a design engineer. Russian. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1942. After graduating from seven years of high school, B. A. Khlud studied at the 61st school of factory apprenticeship at the Arsenal factory and worked as a metal turner. In 1933, he was accepted into the ranks of the Lenin Komsomol. At the same time as studying at the FZU school, he attended the aero club. Seeing the ardent desire of the young men to master flying, the plant's management purchased a training aircraft at the expense of the public, on which B. A. Khlud successfully completed a training course. Then he trained future pilots himself, working at the Kiev aero club.

In April 1937, he was drafted into the Red Army. In 1938, he graduated from the Odessa Aviation College and was enlisted as a fighter pilot. In the battles of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941. He fought on the Southwestern, Southern, Western, Bryansk, 1st Ukrainian, 1st Baltic, 1st Belorussian, 2nd Belorussian and 3rd Belorussian fronts.

At the beginning of 1942, B. A. Khlud commanded the fighter aviation unit. B. A. Khlud's combat roads ran on the Southwestern and Southern fronts during the forced withdrawal, and during the victorious offensive - on the Western, Bryansk, 1st and 3rd Belorussian fronts, from August 1944 to the end of the war — on the 1st Ukrainian. B. A. Khlud had to endure particularly heavy and continuous battles during the Orel military operation in the summer of 1943.

By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated September 2, 1943, Captain Boris Alekseevich Khlud was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Gold Star medal for 327 successful sorties, for courage and heroism shown in 52 air battles, and for the destruction of 11 enemy aircraft. In 1944, he was appointed deputy commander of the 115th Guards Fighter Regiment, and after a while - navigator of the 89th Guards Fighter Regiment. During the war, he conducted 67 aerial battles, in which he personally shot down 18 enemy aircraft. Major B. A. Khlud has been in reserve since 1946. He lived in Kiev. He worked as the head of the driving school of the Kiev DOSAAF, the head of the group at the Research Institute. He died on September 21, 1990. He was buried in Kiev at the Berkovtsy City Cemetery.
