Born 12 (25) June 1904 in the city of Novorossiysk, nowadays Krasnodar region. English (from Russified Greeks). The elder brother of the Hero of the Soviet Union Konstantin K. Kokkinaki. 1932-1935 - test pilot of Scientific test Institute of the air force, held a public trial of a number of fighter planes. In 1935-1964 he was a senior test-pilot of the OKB SV Ilyushin.
