The Communist Party of the Soviet Union (abbrev. The CPSU, in short. The Communist Party is the ruling party in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics. The main ideology was Marxism-Leninism. From the early 1920s until March 1990, the party (under various names - the RCP (b), the CPSU (b), the CPSU) operated under a one—party system. This status was fixed constitutionally: in article 126 of the 1936 Constitution, the Communist Party was proclaimed the "governing core" of state and public organizations of workers, and in the 1977 Constitution of the USSR, the CPSU was, according to article 6, proclaimed the guiding and guiding force of Soviet society as a whole. In 1990, the constitutional monopoly of the party on political power was abolished, however, in the Constitution of the USSR, even in the new version of the relevant provisions of the CPSU, it was separately singled out among other political parties. The events of August 19-22, 1991 served as the basis for accusing the CPSU of unconstitutional activities. By the decree of the President of the RSFSR dated November 6, 1991, the activities of the CPSU and its republican organization, the CP of the RSFSR, were terminated and the property was confiscated. However, the Constitutional Court of the Russian Federation issued a court ruling on November 30, 1992, in which it declared unconstitutional the ban on the activities of the primary organizations of the CPSU—KP of the RSFSR. The case was discontinued due to the collapse and loss of the status of an all-Union organization
